Glaucoma Treatment

Glaucoma is a progressive eye condition caused by increased pressure inside the eye (intraocular pressure) that gradually damages the optic nerve, leading to vision loss if not treated on time. It is often called the “silent thief of sight” because it usually develops without symptoms in the early stages.

Types of Glaucoma

  • Open-Angle Glaucoma: Most common; develops slowly without noticeable symptoms.

  • Angle-Closure Glaucoma: Sudden rise in eye pressure causing pain, nausea, and blurred vision (requires immediate treatment).

  • Normal-Tension Glaucoma: Optic nerve damage despite normal eye pressure.

  • Congenital Glaucoma: Rare, present from birth.
